Lavender Hills whimsy Mad Hatters tea party

Alice in wonderland came to Lavender Hills care home based in Ramsbottom to perform the most magical of plays for residents whilst they enjoyed a mad hatters themed tea party. The tea party was served at Lavender Hills on the terrace lounge on chequered Mad Hatter’s table which was heaving with sweet treats, including cakes and chocolates with the words ‘Eat Me’, naturally, there were mini Victoria sandwiches. The home was decorated with Alice in Wonderland characters, teapots and bunting. Getting in the spirit, residents wore bunny ears and took selfies with props. Lavender hills shortlisted for Activities team of the year award at the Great British care awards The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout England and are a celebration  of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards are to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. It’s been a busy few weeks at Lavender Hills

We’ve had a busy few weeks of activities here at Lavender Hills with residents revealing their artistic flare. Surprising us all with her talent, June created a range of novelty ‘weather catches’ which provided hours of laughter amongst residents. Joan Murphy has recently been bagging up sweeties for the children. Joan is well practiced in the art of Pic n Mix as she used to own a sweet shop with her husband. St George and the Dragon swoop on Lavender Hills

Celebrations took place at our home recently to honour the Patron Saint of England and the famous tale of St George and the Dragon. Residents dug out Pritt Sticks and red tissue to re-create the flag of St George during an arts and craft session with Georgia, a volunteer from the local college. During the day, resident Shelia was given a one-to-one tutorial on how to use her new touch screen phone so she can call friends and family for a chat. Residents get busy with an Interior Design challenge

Our residents have been getting stuck in to an Interior Design challenge to come up with a new design concept for our lounge following a recent refurbishment consultation. Activities and Life Style Coordinator Charlotte created an accessible and visual questionnaire for residents to allow them to note down their ideas for the front lounge and what they wanted it to look like. Everything from carpets and light fittings, through to wall paper and pictures were chosen by the residents, with the room set for completion in the coming weeks.
